Welcome to the farm!

Welcome to our farm here in Southwest Missouri USA!

If you are lucky you will see me putting wood in the furnace. Or even see some cows or the dogs here on the farm. My cats love to sleep on top of the furnace so you may see them too! The furnace will have snow on it with a fire in it........it heats my whole house during the winter. Don't pay any attention to the wood mess..........I like to have wood stacked around, wife doesn't like all the mess. Usually the trailer isn't there! So just excuse the mess. Be sure and sign my guest book I am looking forward to seeing how many different countries and areas of the world look in on us here in Missouri. Another camera can be seen at http://atthefarm.ww.com Thank for stopping by!

Ok, the view you are seeing now is from my office looking toward the east side of my house. This is a LEFT handed stove since when your putting wood in it the heatduct (duct off top of stove going into house) is to your left. I had to change from a right handed stove since I put the deck on the house and also the deck for the hottub. I will have a closer camera when it gets time to be using the heater. Hope that helps explain what your seeing.

How the Heater works.

The drum is a high capacity, cylindrical firebox. On the upper portion of the door is the adjustable draft control disk, for the regulation of air entering the unit. The air is preheated as it is drawn down the internal draft channel (on the inside of the door). The draft is sucked into the bottom of the heater with a turbulent action, mixing with the wood gases for efficient combustion. The patented design of the airtight door and the matching door frame and the internal draft channel make the unit spark proof.

The 16 gauge steel walls of the drum heater are strong enough to withstand constant high temperatures, and yet generate quick heat. (It takes heat longer to travel through heavy-walled material. And the more heat that penetrates the surface, the less hot air escapes up the chimney.) The stove, therefore, allows the maximum amount of heat to penetrate into your home. Being round gives the barrel more resistance to stress. In the heavy, flat-sided rectangular stoves, the corners get hotter. In the round thinner walled stove, the temperatures of the wall is more uniform, therefore, the thermal stresses are less. And, since steel is flexible, it has the ability to bend under stress, while cast iron can only crack when it reaches extreme temperatures. Be sure and check back in the fall as it will be back in operation heating my home.
